Individual Counseling

Individual counseling provides a safe, supportive, and confidential environment to address issues that are concerning you. Some concerns may be able to be addressed in brief counseling, while others may take more time.

Parent Training/Coaching

For families with children age 3 - 12 years, Dr. Ferrell offers parent training and coaching. This approach tends to be very effective for children who have trouble minding, experience tantrums and outbursts, and parents who would like support in implementing effective discipline techniques. This type of counseling involved psychoeducation and in-the moment coaching to strengthen the child/caregiver bond and to implement loving and developmentally appropriate boundaries and consequences.

Limits of Online Counseling

Please note that I am based as a counselor in Germany. The online counseling offered here does not constitute psychotherapy in the sense of German psychotherapy regulations. At the moment, psychotherapy can only take place online after an initial face-to-face diagnosis.

Furthermore, online counseling cannot offer adequate support in all cases. Some problems, especially acute psychological crises as well as serious mental disorders, require in-person and long-term contact. In these cases, please contact psychotherapists or emergency services in your area. If you are unsure whether you need counseling or psychotherapy, feel free contact me, and we can explore together what is appropriate for your situation.

My Approach

Dr. Ferrell utilizes an integrated approach to counseling, seeking to support emotional, cognitive, physical, relational, and spiritual wellness. She comes from an attachment-focused developmental perspective, understanding that problems do not exist in a vacuum, and viewing individuals in the context of their family and cultural systems. She pulls from a variety of treatment modalities based on the age and presenting problems of the client, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, attachment-focused, and emotion-focused therapy.

For children and adolescents, Dr. Ferrell offers parent training and coaching, play therapy informed counseling, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) services, depending on the needs of the family.
